Water or air cooling — which is better for your computer?

„Water is better than air“ is the most common and most inaccurate advice on computer forums. The truth is that a 200-GEL tower cooler is often better than a 150-GEL AIO. The choice depends on the processor, case, and budget, not prestige.

What does overheating actually mean?

A modern processor doesn't die when it overheats — it just throttles. As a result, you pay the price of an i7 and get the performance of an i5. Good cooling will restore those lost percentages.

Air cooling — more reliable than you think

A tower cooler has no pump and no fluid. That is, there is nothing to break or leak. The only moving part is the fan, which can be replaced for 20 GEL even after years.

There is one limitation: Height. A 15-16 cm tall tower doesn't always fit in a case — check the "CPU cooler clearance" in the specifications beforehand.

Water Cooling — When Does It Make Sense?

AIO is really better in two cases:

• Hot processors — Core i9, Ryzen 9. Here, a 360 mm radiator provides temperatures that air cannot reach;
• Compact case, where the tower does not fit in height, and the radiator is mounted on the wall.

Core i5 / Ryzen 5 and a medium case — tower cooler, save money for a graphics card. Core i9 / Ryzen 9 or a small case — 360 mm AIO. In both cases, don't forget the case fans.
