Only if you're streaming from a console or have a two-computer setup. When playing on one PC, OBS records the screen directly and you don't need a recorder.

A single soft key light 45° in front of the face makes the biggest difference. RGB panels and ribbons are for the background — they enrich the visuals, but they don't illuminate the face.
