FAQ
USB or XLR microphone?
A USB microphone plugs directly into your computer and is ideal for getting started. An XLR microphone requires an audio interface or mixer, but the quality and flexibility are higher — this is a serious studio setup.
Dynamic or condenser?
Condenser is more sensitive and detailed, but it also picks up room noise (keyboard, cooler). Dynamic only records close-up sound — often a better choice for noisy rooms and gaming setups.
What is a polar pattern (cardioid)?
This shows which directions the microphone is „hearing“ from. Cardioid records from the front and ignores noise from the back — just what you need for streaming. Omni records from all directions and is for multiple people talking.
Do I need a clip and a pop filter?
A boom arm keeps the microphone close to your mouth and eliminates table vibrations — the sound is much better. A pop filter eliminates the popping sounds of "p" and "b"; many models have one built-in.
